"Cottage Living" is one of my favorite magazines... I don't subscribe to it or anything, it's just that my next door neighbors put it on their doorstep when they don't need it anymore and I take it and read it...
Here is an article from the May/June issue of Cottage Living:
(It also had pictures but I cant find my USB cable so I can transport them from my digital camera to the computer, but I would if I could...)
FRESH IDEAS
Try your own variations on these 7 colorful touches from Angel and Robert's cottage
1: HANG KIDS' ARTWORK: Incorporate children's art into your decorating for a bold splash of color and sentimental value.
2: STRIPE IT: Make ordinary pieces of furniture more playful by adding wide stripes of color. Comb your favorite flea market or garage sales for castaway chests and dressers that could use sprucing up.
3: PUNCH IT UP: Enliven a child's room. Angel and Robert painted a 6-inch-wide band of pink around the center of their daughters' bedroom wall, ran brown grosgrain ribbon (held up with white tacks) through the middle, and hot-glued lime green ribbon to the bottom edge.
4: POST IT PRETTY: Use colorful ribbon to jazz up an ordinary bulletin board. There's no need to glue; just staple the ends of the ribbon to the corkboard and you'll have a quick and easy message board.
5: CONTAIN IT: Organize your supplies. "When you have a lot of crafts, you have to keep everything organized or you'll never find them," Angel says of the labeled cubbies she made for her girls' toys and art supplies.
6: GO WITH DECALS: Turn and empty wall into a work of art. Here a coat of hot-pink paint and removable wall decals fill the bill. These large stickers by Blik come in a wide variety of colors and shapes. Check out www.whatisblik.com for more options.
7: GET CREATIVE: Provide space for kids' crafts projects. Angel turned part of an office into a crafts space for her kids. Bins keep paint, ribbon, fabrics, and wrapping paper handy. "Kids love to come over, hang out, and create," she says.
So, here it is... The pictures that go with it would make it much more interesting for people who learn visually... It doesn't create the same effect without the pics, but hey, I tried!!
I will probably post some more (as well as a comment poster) today and Thursday and possibly early morning on Friday, but after that I won't be able to get back to my blog for a week or so (until my mom has a day off and I am staying with her, because she doesn't mind me blogging unlike my dad).
Thank you for listening,
Dellie A.
